About the programs:

Basic Machining is a program developed to teach understanding of machines used in manufacturing using computers and hands-on training to gain the knowledge needed to pursue a career in manual machining.  Courses include math & measurement, blueprint reading, computer-based training, Engine Lathe Module I, Manual Milling Machine Module I, and Surface Grinder Module I.  Personal protection equipment such as safety glasses and steel-toed shoes is a requirement.  This is the pre-requisite course before entering Computer Numerical Controlled Machining (CNC)
Computer Numerical Controlled Machining (CNC) CNC machines involve the use of machines and computers working together to mass produce parts in shorter run times with more accuracy than manual machines.  Even though these machines run themselves, they need skilled and knowledgeable workers for set-up, operating, and programming.  This program can also be customized for companies and is encouraged.  Courses include Machining Module I and Machining Module II.  Personal protection equipment is also a requirement in CNC.
Core Skills Training is designed to enhance skills that you may already have, or will need, in order to pursue a career in manufacturing or other fields of employment.  Students can learn math, measurement, and blueprint reading.  The program is utilized for pre-employment training or as a refresher for many individuals and local companies.  Classes include math & measurement and blueprint reading and are held on OHP's Main Campus or as a customized class (measuring tools and blueprints provided by the company.)

COLLEGE PATHWAYS

Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Adult & Continuing Education has built strong relationships with colleges and universities throughout the state of Ohio in order to allow our students to create easy transitions into college.

Articulation agreements have been established with two-year and four-year colleges and universities through memorandums of understanding with the following:

Rhodes State College
Clark State Community College
Franklin University
Urbana University

Career-Technical Credit Transfer (CTâ‚‚)
The Ohio Board of Regents works collaboratively with the Ohio Department of Education, adult and secondary career-technical education and state-supported institution of higher education to establish criteria, policies and procedures to transfer agreed-upon technical courses from one system to another. This allows OHP’s adult learners to potentially earn college credit through the programs of study they complete. Currently, credit can be transferred from the nursing, EMT and integrated systems technology. Our adult and continuing education staff can provide current information on the status of college transfer credits.

STUDENT SERVICES/ADMISSIONS

Our Student Services Office is here to assist those who are considering enrollment in one of our programs. The office will work closely with you during the enrollment process to understand your career and college options, admission requirements and financial aid possibilities.

Class Enrollment
Each program and class has a minimum and maximum number of participants permitted. Classes will be cancelled and registration fees returned in full if the minimum number of tuition-paying students is not reached.

Fees
Some programs have fees associated with enrollment. All fees are noted in this catalog next to each class or program information. You should check with Student Services or program instructors for a complete listing of fees.
