Program Description
This program prepares students for employment in the construction trades related to masonry occupations. Students will develop skills in safety, equipment use, material selection, and construction techniques. Instruction is based upon local building codes. Students will provide masonry support to a student-built home in a nearby subdivision as part of their laboratory experience. The Construction Trades programs are accredited by the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER). Students who complete this program will receive one year of credit toward a four-year apprenticeship program.

Graduates of this program may enroll in 2-year technical programs in construction management or business technologies. Rhodes State College has an associate degree program in Concrete Technology.
Students can gain experience by working at a job in the field with pay while still in high school through the School-to-Work program. Students are members of Skills-USA, the nation’s largest career-technical student organization.
