Medical Care Services (Senior-only Program)

Program Description
This one-year senior-only program is designed to help prepare students to be multi-skilled health care provider and nurse assistants. This student will learn to assist in providing medical care to patients in long-term care facility. A successful health care provider should enjoy working with people and interacting with others.
Students receive core coursework and lab practice, along with experience in a clinical setting where they can apply their knowledge and skills to real world situations. CPR Training is provided in addition to training to basic first aid.

- Emergency Care Responsibilities with CPR & First Aid Certifications
- Infection Control and Universal Precautions
- Vital Signs
- Patient Care and Comfort Procedures
- Care of the Elderly

- Nutrition and Fluid Balance
- Ethical and Legal Issues in Healthcare

Post-Secondary Options:
Students may continue their education in a 2-year technical or community college health programs or at the Nancy J. Knight School of Nursing at Ohio Hi-Point.
Students are members of HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America), a career-technical student organization.
