Ohio Hi-Point Adult Education announces Fall/Winter 2010-2011 course offerings
BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio – Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Adult & Continuing Education Division has announced its Fall/Winter 2010-2011 program and course schedules for career development, career enrichment, career enhancement and Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE). Registration is currently available and on going for the public.
Ohio Hi-Point Adult Education helps adult learners looking for a new career pathway develop the skills necessary to earn quality employment by offering training and certification in high-growth industries. Through various career development programs, students can prepare to re-enter the workforce or move on to college to earn an advanced degree, positioning them for a solid future in the workforce. Programs include Practical Nursing, Health Information Technology, Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R), Integrated Systems Technology and State-Tested Nurses’ Aide (STNA).
Short-term career enhancement courses provide quick training in technical skills that are currently being used and required by employers. Career enhancement courses enable an individual to enhance their current skills and/or gain new skills quickly. Courses are available in the areas of computers, technical and manufacturing, health care, pharmacy technician, public safety services, and more.
From the basics of beginning reading and simple addition, through the requirements for an Ohio High School Equivalence Diploma (GED), the Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) Program provides learning programs designed and paced for each student's needs. Individual, small group, and online instruction are designed to help participants meet their educational goals. Students receive instruction and materials to improve their reading, writing and math skills to prepare for entrance exams, job training courses, helping children with homework, preparing for the official GED test, or improving job skills for advancement.
Ohio Hi-Point offers short-term enrichment opportunities for adults to utilize both personally and professionally. These include classes in genealogy, digital photography, cake decorating, home and auto repair, personal finance and life skills, pizza making (taught by Four-Time World Champion pizza thrower Michael Shepherd) and more.
A new opportunity is the offering of online courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Computer Applications, Medical Terminology, and Grant Writing, and more. For a complete list of course offerings www.ed2go.com.
Financial aid and college credit agreement opportunities are also available through Ohio Hi-Point’s Adult Education Division. While most offerings are based at the Bellefontaine Campus site, many classes and programs are offered at various branch locations, including at Ohio Hi-Point’s Urbana South Campus, the new Kenton North Campus and at several Marysville locations.
