Top students honor educators
BELLEFONTAINE – Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s top academic student scholars gave back to educators who have made a meaningful impact on their careers as students. The senior students were recognized for their academic achievements during Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Third Annual Honored Educators Recognition Banquet, which then included a presentation to honor an educator, selected by the students, who has made a significant difference in their lives.
The event was perfectly timed during National Teacher Appreciation Week, sponsored by the National Parent-Teacher Association, to recognize the contributions of educators in helping students succeed academically and in life.
Students recognized for their academic achievements and the educators they honored included:
• Jessica Abouaf, a senior Health Technology student from Indian Lake High School, honored Ms. Deborah Purcell, Health Technology instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Ashley Bisel, a senior Business Administration Technology student from Triad High School, honored Mr. Ryan Gilbert, English instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Mitchel Gates, a senior Building Maintenance student from Benjamin Logan High School, honored Ms. Paula Cullen, intervention specialist at Fremont City Schools
• Jewel Guthrie, a senior Medical Care Services student from Benjamin Logan High School, honored Ms. Laura Donnelly, Medical Care Services Instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Kelly Kale, a senior Business Administration Technology student from Marysville High School, honored Ms. Heather Reed, Business Administration Technology instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Bridget Kerns, a senior Health Technology student from Benjamin Logan High School, honored Mr. Andrew Pinkerton, chemistry instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Shana Kirkpatrick, a senior Health Technology student from Kenton High School, honored her mother, Ms. Paula Payne
• Ashley Kuch, a senior Cosmetology student from Benjamin Logan High School, honored Ms. Judy Gratz, Cosmetology instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Daniel McCully, a senior Health Technology student from Riverside High School, honored Mr. Caleb Lang, social studies instructor from Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Sherra Roseberry, a senior Health Technology student from Mechanicsburg High School, honored Ms. Melissa Sizemore, mathematics instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Breanna Schrader, a senior Printing and Graphic Arts student from Ridgemont High School, honored Mr. Tom Carrig, Printing and Graphic Arts instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Robert P. Smayda, Jr., a senior Electronics Engineering Technology student from Indian Lake High School, honored Mr. Mike Kouse, Electronics Engineering Technology instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Cody Smith, a senior Diesel Technology student from Marysville High School, honored Mr. John Wilson, Diesel Technology instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Ryan Sprang, a senior Information Technology student from Kenton High School, honored Mr. Joe Funkhouser, computer skills instructor at Kenton High School
• Lynsey Stone, a senior Health Technology student from Upper Scioto Valley High School, honored Ms. Tammy Heitmeyer, Health Technology instructor at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center
• Samantha Terrill, a senior Cosmetology student from Benjamin Logan High School, honored her great-grandmother, Ms. Kate Krout
The evening was supported by local businesses including Ann Schmidt Chrysler Dodge Jeep, Wendy’s, Steve Austin’s Auto Group, Affordable Frames Plus, Benedetti Photography and All-Around Awards. Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Culinary Arts program provided an array of desserts for the guests during the reception.
