247 part of successful year at state and national competitions

247 Ohio Hi-Point Career Center students in programs at both the Bellefontaine campus and at Satellite sites advanced to state competitions through their various skills and leadership organizations during the 2009-2010 school year.  14 students have advanced to national competitions.

    Students in Ohio Hi-Point Career Center programs take part in various organizations that emphasize building leadership skills, public speaking skills, management skills, technical skills and more.  Organizations include Business Professionals of America, Health Occupation Students of America, SkillsUSA, DECA, FCCLA, FFA and Future Educators of America.

    Students competing at the national competition level include:
•    Jena Couch, a senior Information Technology/Interactive Media Satellite student at Graham High School, who placed 27th in Advanced Spreadsheets at the Business Professionals of America National Competition
•    Abby Adkins, Nicole McNamara, Jessica Frazier, all Health Technology juniors, will compete in Medical Reading at the Health Occupation Students of America National Competition in Orlando in June
•    Sherra Roseberry, Shana Kirkpatrick, Jessica Abouaf and Daniel McCully, Health Technology students, will compete in the Health Knowledge Bowl at the Health Occupation Students of America National Competition
•    Kelly Sprang, a Health Technology student, will compete in the Personal Care Aide competition at the Health Occupation Students of America National Competition
•    Cody Smith, a senior in Diesel Technology, won a gold medal in the SkillsUSA State Competition and will compete at the SkillsUSA National Competition in Kansas City in June
•    Connor Gifford, a senior in the Health Technology Satellite at Marysville High School, will compete in the Health Occupation Students of America Researched Persuasive Speech competition in Orlando in June
•    Zachary Nickles, a senior in the Health Technology Satellite at Marysville High School will compete in the Pharmacology Knowledge Test at the Health Occupation Students of America National Competition in Orlando
•    Marah Brown and James Eckenrode, both students in the Biomedical Science Satellite program at the Urbana South Campus, will compete in the Forensic Medical Team Competition at the Health Occupation Students of America National Competition in June
