Adult Education summer offerings

Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Adult and Continuing Education Division has had a successful and extremely busy year helping create career and college pathways for adult learners.  With the recent economic downturn and the need for adults to learn new skills, adult educational opportunities are booming. 
This summer won’t be any exception as the Division continues to provide both long-term and short-term offerings for adults looking to renew or refresh their careers.

The Nancy J. Knight School of Nursing has expanded into Kenton at the new Ohio Hi-Point Career Center North Campus at the Eastcrest Elementary School site, 409 Madison Avenue.  The site will host the first nursing class beginning in July.

The purpose of the new practical nursing program is to expand services and offer an entry-level nursing program here in Hardin County.  Locating a program in Hardin County will allow residents to compete an educational program within the county and decrease time and travel expenditures,” said Darlene Chiles, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center Adult and Continuing Education Director.
 
Ohio Hi Point currently operates Practical Nursing programs in Bellefontaine, Marysville and at the South Campus in Urbana.

“Because of the pre-requisites necessary for the Practical Nursing program it would be difficult to start now and get into the Hardin County program.   Exception would be for someone who had already completed anatomy and physiology somewhere and had taken or could test-out of basic computer applications,” offered Chiles. “We are accepting applications for the other Practical Nursing programs in Bellefontaine (daytime program) in September 2010 and March 2011, as well as at the Urbana South Campus (daytime program) in January 2011.”

Applications are still being accepted for a few remaining spots in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning (HVAC) daytime program at the Urbana South Campus and the daytime Health Information Technology program at the Bellefontaine campus.
