CBI student wins Jeff Akers Scholarship

MARYSVILLE, Ohio – Jasmine Miller, an 8th grade Career Based Intervention (CBI) student at Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s CBI Satellite located at Bunsold Middle School was recently awarded the prestigious Jeff Akers Scholarship.  Miller plans to graduate from Marysville High School and Ohio Hi-Point Career Center’s Cosmetology program in several years and then obtain her associate’s degree in business with hopes of owning her own salon one day.  The scholarship is for $1,000.

Any student (grades 7-9) enrolled in a Career Based Intervention-Career Connections Program is eligible to apply for the scholarship, which will be held in escrow until the recipient has successfully completed the first term of college course work. The recipient must successfully complete the first term of post secondary education within two years of earning a high school diploma.

The Jeff Akers Scholarship is in honor of its namesake, one of Ohio’s pivotal CBI Coordinators and a former CBI Consultant at the Ohio Department of Education.
