Exercise Science

Five Exercise Science seniors from Ohio Hi-Point Career Center recently became certified personal trainers.

Devon Kimble (Benjamin Logan), Tony Stewart (Bellefontaine), Kaitlyn Gregg (Triad), Bri Cotterman (Upper Scioto Valley), and Brice Johnson (Upper Scioto Valley) earned their National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Personal Training certifications after successfully completing the coursework and exam.

The NASM is renowned for setting the standard in fitness certifications. NASM's evidence-based approach ensures trainers have the latest knowledge in exercise science, nutrition, and fitness assessments, making the certification highly sought after by professionals in the industry.

In correlation with the NASM program, OHP’s Exercise Science instructor Heather Smith also coordinated a 6-week experience for students to work one-on-one with an OHP staff member to develop and implement a customized workout program to fit their client's goals. This real-world application of their studies not only prepared them for the certification exam but also equipped them with practical skills to bring to their future careers in the fitness industry.

These newly certified personal trainers are now well-prepared to meet the diverse fitness needs of the community.
