GMA Students

Ohio Hi-Point's Graphic and Media Arts Academy students enjoyed the opportunity to visit SpeedPro Dayton to learn more about the printing process and check out a flatbed printer that utilizes UV [cure] ink. This was used to print OHP’s new history timeline wall designed by Graphic and Media Arts senior L.T. McComas.

The students experienced the prepress process as the professionals from SpeedPro explained the function of the machines and software used. They watched as the substrate was loaded and printed, and the ink was cured via UV lights built into the machine’s print head for a seamless process.

Our GMA students also took part in the cut-out portion, where they cleaned the pieces and mounted each piece to the timeline wall.

Students left with a realistic view of what an average day looks like in a print shop and could start to see a pathway into the industry in the not so distant future.
