A message from Superintendent Rick Smith, Ed.D.
The Ohio Hi-Point Bellefontaine Main Campus serves juniors and seniors in high school while the district's satellite programs, which bring career programming directly to students in their partner schools, serve seventh through 12th grade students in 11 out of the district's 14 partner schools.
As the workforce becomes more and more competitive, school districts are continually working to help students get an edge over the field of both college and career applicants. We at Ohio Hi-Point (OHP) understand the value of making sure students are college and career ready. Our students are exposed to a variety of career workshops, study trips, networking events, and programs throughout the year, allowing them to build on their interview and resume skills as well as professionalism and skill application in the workplace.
Ohio Hi-Point's Experiential Learning Program Coordinator on the Bellefontaine Main Campus and our Internship Coordinator in Marysville continue to seek out new partnerships while cultivating existing relationships to best prepare our students for the next step after high school.
This school year, we've had over 100 students on the Bellefontaine Main Campus participate in our Experience Learning Program, a program for our high achieving students to work in their career area of study during the school day. In addition, our Internship Coordinator placed almost 60 students in internships. Over 125 partnerships have been established in industries such as engineering, health, manufacturing, marketing, culinary, and automotive.
In addition to providing internship sites for students, our partners are continually supporting students by partnering with our staff to help guide curriculum development, provide classroom demonstrations, judge local skill events, and serve as mentors.
We've also worked hard to make sure our articulation agreements with colleges and universities align with OHP's curriculum. Many classes take study trips to colleges and universities to give students a look at multiple campuses and programs.
Ohio Hi-Point had a 96.7% career and college placement rate for the graduating class of 2017. Students are Ohio Hi-Point's first priority, and our teaching staff as well as our business and industry partners, go above and beyond to ensure they are prepared for career or college pathways. We look forward to seeing the success of the class of 2019 and continue to adapt and adjust opportunities for students to meet the changing workforce.
