Starting Tuesday, September 3, 2024, all students attending Ohio Hi-Point Career Center will have the opportunity to receive free lunches for the remainder of the 2024/2025 school year. This covers regular lunches, ensuring students can access balanced meals at no cost.
Students will continue to follow the regular cafeteria procedures, including entering their student numbers when going through the lunch line. A regular lunch qualifies as free when it includes one of the following combinations:
A sandwich from the Sandwich Bar, along with a vegetable, fruit, and milk
A Grab and Go Salad or Sub with milk
A Plate Lunch from the Hot Bar, including an entrée, vegetable, fruit, and milk
A meal from the Build Your Own Lunch Bar, consisting of an entrée, vegetable, fruit, and milk
Ala carte items, such as soda, chips, or desserts like cookies, are not included and will incur an additional charge. Additionally, breakfast is not free, with the cost set at $2.00 for a regular breakfast.
"Adequate nutrition is vital to the growth, education, and well-being of all students," said Dr. Rick Smith, OHP Superintendent. "All households have felt the strain of the economy and increasing costs on nearly everything needed to live. We are happy to be able to provide this relief to all families and make sure all students have access to a healthy meal.”
While all students will automatically receive a free lunch, Ohio Hi-Point Career Center encourages eligible families to continue participating in the federal free and reduced lunch program by completing the necessary application.
