Kylie Bowersmith placed first in the Pi Day Poster Competition. There were several teachers who asked our Math Department where they ordered the posters from because it looked so professional! Keleigh Smith placed second, Hannah Grissom placed third, and Cheyenne Jepsen placed fourth.
Congratulations to Isaiah Brooks for memorizing 179 digits of Pi. That's not a typo. 179! Zachary Woolley placed second by memorizing 37 digits, Austin McCoy placed third with 28 digits, and Tori Strickland placed fourth with 20 digits. How many digits of Pi can you recite (without cheating)?
With the craziness of last week we didn't get to celebrate on social media one of our favorite holidays... PI DAY! Our Math Department always does a fantastic job of hosting fun Pi Day competitions and challenges for our students. Over the next few posts, we'll spotlight the winners from the four competitions. Our Animal Science seniors took a virtual study trip to a hog farm in Versailles today. Jacob Weubker, an FFA member, spoke about his family farm that raises several thousand hogs annually. He also shared aspects of nutrition and disease control, as well as how they try to protect the environment while farming. What a cool opportunity!
