Members of Ohio Hi-Point’s leadership team attended the Ohio ACTE Legislative Seminar this week to hear updates on career tech policy. OHP Superintendent Dr. Rick Smith helped lead the conference. In addition, we spent an afternoon with other career leaders at the statehouse to speak to our representatives and senators about the importance of career education and the successes and opportunities we're seeing.
Career-Tech Ed: Then and Now 📚⚙️
The beginnings of Career-Tech:
📅 Ohio's career-tech history dates back over 100 years. Originally referred to as "vocational education", it focused on training in the areas of agriculture and trade & industry training ⚙️.
☝ Ohio was the first state to make career-tech education accessible to all students. Governor James A. Rhodes was a champion of career-tech education🏆.
Career-tech Today:
🗺️ There are 91 Career-Tech Planning Districts in Ohio
🙋🏻♀️ Over 125,000 high school students participate in career-tech
🧍 Over 25,000 adults receive training through 49 career centers
Ohio Hi-Point opened its doors in 1974 and we're celebrating 50 years of impact, experience, and excellence!
